End of Year Message from the Head Teacher
As we reach the conclusion of another remarkable academic year, I want to take a moment to reflect on all that our school community has accomplished together. It has been a year filled with dedication, growth, and memorable milestones for our pupils.
Hearing the Chair of Governors' End-of-Year Summary, I am reminded of how much we have achieved through strong collaboration across our entire school community. This year has seen our pupils excel academically, creatively, on the sports field, and through community involvement. Our pupils have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their learning, tackling new challenges with resilience, curiosity, and pride. From vibrant drama performances, musical events, and competitive sports fixtures to educational visits and residential trips, our young people have represented our school values with distinction.
As noted in the Chair’s summary, key school projects—such as the construction of The Orangery and new lighting for the entire school —have further strengthened our learning environment.
Below I am sharing with you the key findings of two external reviews that took place at the end of Spring and the start of Summer Term as a part of regular cycle of school improvement.
Ealing Peer Review Summary: Writing & Curriculum
In April, our school participated in an Ealing Peer Review to evaluate how effectively our lesson planning supports pupils' progress in extended writing.
- Key Strengths: The review highlighted that our pupils are confident, articulate communicators backed by a strong foundation in phonics and early writing. Reviewers noted our ambitious vocabulary teaching, high standards of handwriting, and effective use of shared modelling and working walls to guide independent learning.
- Next Steps: To build on these strengths, we will focus on helping pupils develop their individual creative voice, ensuring consistency in lesson sequencing across all classes, and strengthening how pupils use feedback to edit and refine their work.
Equality & Inclusion Review Summary
We recently conducted a review to evaluate and strengthen our school’s commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion, ensuring every pupil, family, and staff member feels valued and supported.
- Key Strengths: The review recognised our strong, welcoming ethos where respect, tolerance, and belonging are deeply embedded in daily learning and guided by our motto, "Believe, Achieve, Succeed." Reviewers praised our proactive leadership, strong compliance with equality standards, and clear focus on preparing pupils to thrive in a diverse world.
- Next Steps: To embed our long-term equality objectives even more deeply across our curriculum with governor oversight.
A successful school year is always the product of a true partnership. I extend my deepest thanks to Mr Munir Ahmed and our Board of Governors for their ongoing strategic guidance, vision, and dedication to our school's ethos and success. Sincere thanks to our teachers, teaching assistants, support team, and administrative staff. Their tireless work, care, and passion ensure every pupil is supported to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
Farewells and New Beginnings
The end of the academic year is always a time of transition:
- To our Year 6 leavers, congratulations on completing this stage of your journey. You leave us with our proudest wishes as you take your next steps into senior school.
- We bid a fond farewell to staff members moving on to new opportunities. Ms Fitzgerald & Ms Biglou are both moving out of London and Mrs Sandhu from the front office, who is looking to pursue new opportunities. We thank them for their dedication to our school and wish them every success.
Looking ahead into September I look forward to welcoming our new intake of pupils and families joining us in September. Both our Reception classes and the full-time Nursery are nearly full, and I am to see so many parents keen to admit their child into Vicar’s Green.
Finally, I would like to share a couple of photographs of pupils who have been recognised for their outstanding sportsmanship while representing Vicar's Green at inter-school sporting events. They consistently demonstrated respect, teamwork, resilience and encouragement towards others, regardless of the outcome. Whilst winning is always an achievement, displaying integrity and good character is equally important and reflects the values we strive to instil in all our pupils.
The qualities developed through good sportsmanship are transferable to all aspects of life. Working collaboratively, showing respect, persevering through challenges, celebrating success with humility and responding positively to disappointment are life skills that support success in education, future careers and relationships. We are incredibly proud of these pupils for being excellent ambassadors for our school and living our values both on and off the sports field.
Thank you for your unwavering support, encouragement, and partnership your active involvement is deeply valued.
On behalf of all the staff and the Governing Body, I wish you and your family a restful, safe, and enjoyable summer break. Thank you once again for your continued support throughout this year, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in September. Year 1 – 6 start on Thursday 3rd September 2026.
Wishing You a Restful Summer.
Warm regards Iman Basu Roy
