Message from the Head Teacher

As January comes to a close, it’s hard to believe how quickly the weeks have flown by. This week has been an especially exciting one, filled with excellent learning and a wide range of curriculum enrichment activities.

Children across Key Stage 2 had the fantastic opportunity to visit a local theatre, where they were given access backstage. This inspiring experience sparked the imaginations of many budding lighting and sound technicians, stage set designers, and aspiring actors.

We were also delighted to welcome our governors into school for a spectacular science afternoon. They were thoroughly impressed by the high-quality teaching and learning taking place across the school, with pupils confidently demonstrating excellent scientific knowledge and skills while working like scientists.

One governor commented, “Children demonstrated curiosity and a real love for the subject, knowing how science relates to everyday life and expressing aspirations for future scientific roles.”

As part of our commitment to supporting pupils’ health and wellbeing, and following a suggestion from our Playground Friends team, our school will be taking part in Fizz Free February. This simple initiative encourages healthier drink choices, helps reduce sugar intake, and supports good dental health. Parents can support this by encouraging children to choose water, milk, or other non-fizzy drinks at home and in packed lunches throughout the month.

It has been a wonderful week that reflects the dedication of our staff and the hard work and enthusiasm of our pupils.

Warm regards                                                                      Iman Basu Roy

Operation Encompass

This is to inform you that our school is working in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police Service as part of their legal commitments under Operation Encompass.

Operation Encompass is the notification to schools that a child (under 18) has been exposed to, or involved in, any domestic incident.  This includes incidents where the child/young person was not present but is part of the household. This will ordinarily be done by the start of the next school day.

Operation Encompass will ensure that a specially trained member of the school staff, known as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), is informed. The DSL can then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to ensure the wellbeing of the child.

The school may be able to make provisions or adjustments to assist the child and their family.

We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils, and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.
