Message from the Head Teacher
World Mental Health Day takes place on 10 October and this year’s theme is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.” This provides a timely opportunity to remind our pupils that everyone’s experiences and feelings matter, and that taking the time to listen to others with kindness, patience and empathy can make a real difference to their wellbeing. Good listening is not simply about waiting for our turn to speak; it is about giving someone our full attention, showing that we are interested in what they are saying and trying to understand how they feel. Taking the time to listen without interrupting, asking questions to understand more, and showing kindness and empathy can help others feel valued, understood and less alone. Children do not always need to have the perfect answer or solve a friend's problem; sometimes, simply being there and listening is what matters most. Good listening is a foundation not only for successful learning, but also for healthy friendships and positive wellbeing
Harvest Festival has its roots in the traditional celebration of the harvest, when communities gave thanks for the food that had been grown and gathered during the year. While modern farming and food production have changed considerably, we continue to mark Harvest as an opportunity to reflect on where our food comes from, appreciate those who produce it and recognise the importance of sharing with others. At Vicar’s Green, pupils are trying to collect donations to take to local shelters to their gratitude, while supporting those in need.
Thank you to those who took the time to attend the Year Ahead Meeting for your child. We try to keep the content of these meetings varied so we can cover matters that are pressing in the current climate.
