Message from the Head Teacher
At Vicar’s Green Primary School we use Mathletics to support and extend pupils’ mathematical learning. This online platform allows children to practise key skills in a fun, engaging and interactive way, reinforcing what they learn in class while building confidence and fluency in number. Unfortunately, we have noticed that the current level of engagement with Mathletics is quite low. As the school invests in this programme for all pupils, we would really appreciate parents encouraging their children to make the most of it. Establishing a simple routine of around 30 minutes, three times a week can make a significant difference to a child’s progress and confidence in maths.
Comic Relief is a well-known UK charity founded in 1985 with the aim of tackling poverty and social injustice in the UK and around the world. Its motto, “A just world, free from poverty,” reflects its mission to support vulnerable communities and create lasting change. Through fundraising events such as Red Nose Day, Comic Relief brings people together using humour and creativity to raise awareness and support important causes.
Here at school, we will be marking this occasion in a creative way. Pupils will be writing humorous poems and limericks, which they will share with their classmates, with a selection of performances also presented in assembly. This activity not only celebrates the spirit of Comic Relief but also provides valuable opportunities for children to develop their writing, creativity, performance, and oracy skills, while building confidence in presenting their work to an audience.
