Message from the Head Teacher

This Thursday we celebrated World Book Day, and our school looked like an enchanted land filled with children’s favourite book characters. The effort and creativity that went into the costumes was wonderful to see, and I would like to thank all families for the time and support given at home to help create these.

The children enjoyed a range of reading activities throughout the day. To build excitement, some of our staff also took part in a Masked Reader challenge. From Monday, the children watched three masked readers and tried to guess who they were. The big reveal took place today during our Reading Ambassadors Assembly, where the children discovered which staff members had been hiding behind the books!

Reading from an early age is incredibly important. It supports children’s creativity, builds their vocabulary and knowledge, and helps them grow into confident learners. Below you will find a selection of engaging books that we believe our children will really enjoy. Please do make use of your local library to access these books. Libraries are free to join, allow you to borrow several books at a time, and often run events at weekends and during school holidays.

You will also find our 2026 School Active Travel Plan included in this newsletter. The area outside the school is becoming increasingly busy at drop-off and pick-up times, and the safety of our children is paramount. The map provided will help you plan your journey to school if you choose to walk, cycle, scoot or use public transport for all or part of the journey. Active travel not only improves children’s health and prepares them for a day of learning, but also provides valuable bonding time to talk together about the day ahead or reflect on the day they have had.

Please use the map to help plan your journey and park outside the restricted areas during drop-off and pick-up times. This will make the outside of our school a much safer place for our children and families.

 Warm regards                                                                      Iman Basu Roy
