Message from the Head Teacher
As the world becomes more and more dependent on technology, it is essential that we teach our young people how to embrace this development but also how to keep themselves safe and protected. The theme for this year’s online safety day was around making safe choices. Of course we are all going to be using technology in our day to day life, but we have to learn to navigate ourselves through this world. Hence it is essential that parents give the same message at home. We have shared with you the SMART rules which are a widely used framework to help children and young people stay safe online. The acronym stands for Safe, Meeting, Accepting, Reliable, and Tell, guiding users to protect personal info, avoid in-person meetings with online strangers, check content, and report concerns to adults.
I am really looking forward to watching the children coming in all sorts of exciting and creative outfits to mark World Book Day next Thursday – please refrain from buying expensive costumes. The aim is to to be creative and make costumes at home with your child using household objects. Some of the best costumes we see are all homemade and demonstrate the thought that has gone behind them.
Too many children are being taken out of school to attend GP and Dentist appointments. Please note that school will not allow these moving forward, as they are missing valuable learning time. Majority of the Dental Surgeries and GPs are open in the evening and during school holidays – so that is when appointments should be made. Only in absolute emergencies, will children be allowed to leave school, provided we have seen the evidence.
