Message from the Head Teacher
Starting from this week, Mrs Simpson, our Deputy Headteacher, and Ms Waters, our English Lead, have been going into English lessons across the school to observe the teaching and learning of writing techniques. This year, as a part of our School Development plan, we are focusing on embedding strategies that raise attainment in writing. Writing skills are crucial because they enable clear communication, foster critical thinking, build professional credibility, and are essential for academic and career success by allowing you to articulate complex ideas, persuade others, and document knowledge effectively in nearly every field. Strong writing clarifies your thoughts, enhances problem-solving, and makes a better first impression, serving as the primary way we share information and build expertise today.
It would be of great help if parents could encourage their children to engage in free writing from time to time by providing them with the space, time and equipment to write their thoughts on any topic of their interest onto paper. Free writing is a great form of low-stake writing practice and develops pupils' ability to collate their thoughts into sentences and then read their work for accuracy and meaning.
Christmas has arrived at Vicar’s Green! This afternoon I will be watching the first of the nativity plays performed by Reception children. It is going to be a busy two weeks and Mrs Sandhu in the Office is sending over various posters and reminders, so parents are aware of the upcoming events.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our wonderful parents who came to help put up the Christmas decorations around the school. The school is looking very festive.
