Message from the Head Teacher
Wearing the correct school uniform is an important part of belonging to our school community. It helps foster a shared sense of pride, identity, and readiness for learning, ensuring that all pupils are equal and united . A consistent uniform policy supports key British Values, particularly mutual respect, equality, and community cohesion. By ensuring all pupils wear the same uniform, we promote a sense of belonging and fairness, reducing social pressures and helping children recognise that everyone is valued equally. This shared identity reinforces the respectful, inclusive culture we strive for and helps create an environment where all pupils can thrive together.
When pupils do not follow the uniform expectations, it can affect their sense of belonging and may lead to unnecessary conversations that take time away from learning. By choosing to send their child to our school, parents agree to support the school’s policies and procedures — including our uniform policy — so that together we can maintain a positive, respectful, and cohesive learning environment for every child.
Our school uniform policy has been approved by the Headteacher and the Governing Body and can be found on our school website. Our uniform policy is in line with the Department for Education (DfE) statutory guidance (October 2025) which emphasises that school uniforms should support a shared sense of identity and community without placing an unreasonable financial burden on families. The companion document School Uniforms: Guidance for Schools encourages schools to adopt a uniform policy because it “promotes the ethos of a school,” helps set an appropriate tone for education, and supports equality by avoiding differences that might highlight disparities between children.
