Message from the Headteacher

Today the pupil roles will be selected and the elections for the school councillors will also take place – so very excited to hear which of our pupils will be selected as our next year’s leaders and to see how they will help shape the direction of the school. This year we have decided to choose a ‘Head Boy’ and a ‘Head Girl’ from, Year 6 for their outstanding qualities and the ability to be great role model.  The teachers will be selecting pupils for these roles across the two Year 6 classes and of course we will share the news with you.

We are also looking for suitable nominations for a parent governor vacancy, the details of which will follow next week. Governing Body meetings take place regularly, in the afternoons during the week throughout the year. The information next week will give you further details on what the role requires and how to proceed with applications either for yourself or another parent you might want to nominate.

Thursday 2^nd October was National Poetry Day and all classes explored a poem of their choice on the theme of numbers. This annual day encourages children of all ages to discover, share and create poetry, transforming language to give shape to their imagination. Each class is also learning a poem by heart, which they are going to perform to the rest of the school next week – this will further support their developing confidence with performance and practise their oracy skills. Finally, we are also running a competition on poems based around school values, which children are encouraged to write at home. The winners will get tokens they can spend at the book fair this month and their contributions will also go on display in the school corridors for others to enjoy.
