Mr Prakash Kumar

Name: Prakash Kumar

Position in the Governing Body: Parent governor and STEM

Why did you decide to become a Governor at Vicar’s Green Primary School?

As a parent whose child has attended Vicar’s Green Primary School since Nursery, I am keen to contribute to the school’s continued success and support its leadership in achieving the best outcomes for all pupils. I have a background in education and have been involved in supporting teaching and learning for over 16 years, working closely with teachers and students.
Becoming a Governor allows me to give back to the school community, share my experience, and support the school’s mission to provide a high-quality, inclusive education where every child can thrive academically, socially, and personally.

What do you think that Governors can bring to Vicar’s Green Primary School?

Governors play an important role in providing direction, accountability, and a link between the school and its community.
I bring a practical understanding of education alongside strong analytical and problem-solving skills developed through my current role as an IT consultant.
I aim to act as a supportive and constructive “critical friend,” contributing to thoughtful discussion and informed decision-making, while working collaboratively with school leaders to help Vicar’s Green continue delivering high-quality education in a safe and inclusive environment.

What are your interests in Education (SEN, Business, Literacy...)

With an engineering background and over 16 years of experience supporting education and IT consulting, my interests include:

- School Improvement and Performance
- Quality of Teaching and Learning, with a focus on Maths and Science
- Pupil Progress, Wellbeing, Inclusion, and Safeguarding
- Effective Use of Technology to Support Teaching and Learning

Brief history of your career, life and background

I hold an engineering degree in Information Technology and currently work as an IT consultant in a leading IT company. Earlier in my career, I supported teaching and learning, gaining experience in educational events and working closely with teachers and students. I have also lived and worked in several countries, which has given me a broad perspective on education, learning, and community engagement. This combination of professional IT experience, hands-on involvement in education, and international exposure shapes my interest in supporting schools and contributing to pupils’ learning and development.
