Mrs Rebecca Tattum

Governor Profile

Name: Rebecca Tattum

Position in the Governing Body: Staff Governor

Why did you decide to become a Governor at Vicar’s Green Primary School?

Having been a teacher at the school for a number of years I decided to become a Governor as I felt it was an amazing opportunity to come out of my comfort zone and see the running of the school from a different angle. For many years in my role as Phase Leader I have acted as an effective link between staff and the leadership of the school. This role will I believe offer a further opportunity for me to make a real contribution to the strategic management of the school.

What do you think that Governors can bring to Vicar’s Green Primary School?

The governance of a school is very important in ensuring that it is run effectively. Governors bring a wealth of diverse experience and knowledge to their role which makes them an invaluable asset in helping to guide nurture the development of the school

What are your interests in Education (SEN, Business, Literacy...)

I am a recently appointed Assistant Head teacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead. In addition, I continue to be Phase Leader for KS2 with teaching responsibilities in Year 6 and I share Subject Leadership for Maths. My personal passions within teaching are English and History and I take a very active interest in the fostering of a love of books and reading

I have been a teacher at VGPS since 2011 and although most of that time has been in Year 6 I have actually taught in all KS2 year groups. Prior to joining the staff here I taught mainly in middle and high schools in The Midlands. My degree is in History and I have a PGCE in Primary Teaching.
