To support their learning about growth and life cycles, the children in Reception had hen eggs in an incubator. They watched with excitement as the eggs slowly cracked and newly hatched chicks emerged. The children also took part in lots of writing and learning about how the chicks grow and survive.

World Book Day

This year, we celebrated World Book Day on a wonderfully sunny day. The children came to school dressed as characters from much-loved books, bringing stories to life all around us. Kingfisher Class made the most of the beautiful weather by enjoying their books in the amphitheatre. Can you spot any of your favourite characters?

We were delighted to welcome MP James Murray to our school to meet our Eco Team and see our newly developed garden area. The children were excited to share their work, explaining the process behind creating the garden and describing what is currently growing. They also had the opportunity to ask Mr. Murray thoughtful questions — and confidently answered his in return! It was a wonderful experience that celebrated the hard work and passion of our Eco Team.

French Day

Our school celebrated French Day with great enthusiasm under the bright sunshine! Students came dressed in the vibrant colours of Francophone countries and explored the rich diversity of cultures where French is spoken around the world. Everyone enjoyed visiting our very own French café, where we had the chance to taste delicious French treats — with wonderful support from our parent volunteers. It was a fun and educational day filled with language, learning, and laughter!

Year 3's Stone Age Workshop

Year 3 had an exciting opportunity to take part in a hands-on prehistoric workshop, exploring the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age. The children had a fantastic time bringing history to life through re-enactments of the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic periods. They got to dress in authentic costumes and explore how early humans developed tools, textiles, methods of hunting and food gathering. The workshop concluded with a collaborative project, where the children worked together to create a model of Stonehenge - an iconic landmark they will be learning more about in the Spring term. It was a fun and educational experience that sparked curiosity about our ancient past!

Year 4's Design Technlogy Project

Class 4 Robin had an exciting time designing and creating their own healthy granola snacks! The children experimented with different nutritious ingredients, carefully tasting and evaluating their creations to see how they could be improved. It was a fun and engaging way to learn about healthy eating while developing their culinary skills.

Black History Month 2024

Black History Month 2024 was a fantastic celebration at our school, filled with learning, inspiration, and creativity. Throughout the month, children explored the lives and achievements of influential Black figures from history, gaining a deeper appreciation for their contributions. Each class focused on different individuals, ensuring a rich and diverse learning experience across the school. The celebrations culminated in a wonderful Black History Month assembly led by Class 5 Swift, where they showcased what they had learned through powerful performances, presentations, and reflections. It was a month to remember, fostering unity, understanding, and pride!

School Council visit to the Food Bank

Ms Lydon and the school councillors organised and delivered all of the generous food packages from our families and staff members. The children who went to the food bank came back feeling incredibly proud of themselves and all of us at school, and shared their experience with the other children during the prize giving assembly.
