Updates on Year 6 Residential Trip - 7th to 9th June 2017 

Wednesday 7th June 2:30 pm

Children have all reached safely and are settling into their dormitories.

Thursday 8th June

8:30 am

All pupils have had a lovely breakfast and are getting ready for the day.

We are all getting together to start our first activity.

The children are all having a great time, they are in

woodlands this afternoon making wigwam’s,bit windy, but all is well. Check out the image below.

English 

Poetry- we will focus on classic narrative poems looking at structure; imagery and the story within. 

 

Myths- we will be studying Greek Myths in order  to understand their relevance in Greek society and then write our own.

 

 

Non- fiction: we will be taking a cross curricular approach to Literacy over the rest of the academic year.

Based on the learning theme we will be revisiting

the features and techniques of the genres that we have learnt so far.

These will include; newspaper reports; recounts; explanations.

Maths

Problem Solving activities which will require appropriate connections to be made between the sections on 'number', ‘geometry’, ‘measurement’ and ‘statistics’.

Mental Methods; Written Methods; Calculator Methods.

Solve numerical problems: estimate answers by approximating and checking that results are reasonable, and where necessary checking for accuracy, by using the inverse operation or by repeating the calculation in a different order.
