Believe Achieve Succeed

Sports hall Athletics

On Thursday 26th January 2017, nineteen teams from Primary schools attended the Year 5/6 Sportshall Athletics Competition at Greenford High School

The competition included field,  track and relays and first of all athletes competed in Speed bounce, Triple Jump, long jump, vertical jump, chest push and javelin.  After the field events teams competed in the Obstacle relay, over and under relay and 4 x 1 lap relay.  The events finished on the track with the 1 lap, 2 lap and 6 lap paarluf races.

Points were collated by all participants to give each school team an overall points score and final finishing position.

Vicar’s Green took one team, along with Mr Rasiah and Miss Zezula (and some of the children in the team had attended Sportshall Athletics after-school club, ran by Miss Seabridge).  Our team took part in the afternoon competition and came 8th out of 9 teams competing.

Everyone who competed tried really hard and there were some nail-biting finishes against other schools.  In the relay race, Vicar’s Green finished in the top three.  Also, our athletes showed that they would not give up, as in the over and under relay, Hadi took a tumble and got straight back on his feet and carried on!  Praveen and Tabarek also received special certificates for showing the School Games value of ‘Self-Belief’.

Our sportspersons of the tournament (and we had to choose two as it was too hard to choose just one in the team!) were Hadi, for getting back on his feet and not giving up and Kara, for doing so well in the relay race.

Well done to all the children and adults who attended.
